Mummy With A Capital Ehm

When Erica Ehm, the first female host of MuchMusic and one of Canada’s most recognized personalities admits to being terrified after the birth of her son, one tends to be slightly intrigued. “I wasn’t prepared – and I had read the books,” says Erica. “I had no problem with 36 hours of labour, but as soon as they left me alone with my baby in the hospital, I had close to a nervous breakdown. I was in the deepest, darkest despair. Part of it was post partum, part hormonal, but a lot of it was just that I’m a career person. I was never around a lot of children and I had no training. It’s the only time in my life that I’ve been that insecure. I was terrified with a capital T.”

Prior to her mothering role, Erica’s multi-faceted career in television, radio, film, theatre, journalism, songwriting and music publishing demonstrated her tireless resilience, versatility and competence. Now she’s exposing the flip side, and letting everyone know that she’s just as vulnerable as the rest of us.
